6/29/2024 Jellyroll Split Blade Dresden
This class will teach students the new Modern way to Piece a Dresden Plate Block using Anelie’s piecing method of Stitch-n-Flip. This Technique gives quilters a choice to Appliqué or not and removes the difficulty of getting the Dresden to lay down flat. In addition, the designs made in class will incorporate the “Split Blade” design. Students will be surprised as to how easy the cutting and piecing technique is. Split Blades are one of the most popular designs from my Patterns and Book “Thoroughly Modern Dresden.” Students will also learn several Border techniques which includes Putting Borders on without measuring, Pieced Dresden Border, and “Peaked Top Dresden Border.” Students will have a variety of design options to choose from.

7/27/2023 Free Motion Machine Sketching
When I started teaching free motion quilting, I finally sat down and made something to make it easier: a sampler book with a small page of each quilting motif I wanted to illustrate. I used grommets and book rings to assemble it so I can change out the page order. It’s been amazingly helpful, something I wished I’d done YEARS ago!
Free Motion Machine Sketching
When I’m sketching, I am purposefully retracing my steps and trying to miss on purpose; this took some practice after years of trying to follow lines exactly. What I’m trying to emphasize here is that although I’m using a machine, the process is still created by my hands! I love the beautiful imperfection of a strong line that is created by drawing it over and over – it’s just my pencil is an electric sewing machine.

Scrappy Applique Lecture
Kristie Naranjo studiokristie@gmail.com kristienaranjo.com
Hello, my name is Kristie Naranjo and I’m a quilt teacher certified in teaching the Scrappy Appliqué technique developed by Shannon Brinkley. My main goal in sharing my love of quilting with others is to help them feel confident and comfortable to do anything with the skills they currently have. I believe everyone has potential, and I love unlocking that by helping each person tap into the creative side they may not realize they have.
