In House Workshops
All classes are being held at Bethany of Montclair Baptist
Church. If a class has to be changed, we will contact all parties to let them know, by email and adding notifications on Facebook.
Classes start at 9:30 and end at 3:30. Please bring your lunch, snacks or drinks. Classes are held in Room 9, through the playground area.
CLASS BASIC SUPPLY LIST:
Sewing Machine – in good working order and your machine manual if you have one.
Bobbins (pre-wind at least 2 with your thread when going to a class)
Machine Needles (Size 11 or 12 for piecing)
Thread – Neutral Color or a Color appropriate for your project.
Scissors (Small snips and medium for cutting fabric.)
Rotary Cutter with a good blade.
Acrylic Rulers as needed for your project.
Small Rotary Mat if you want to cut at your workstation (no larger than 12×18)
Pins or Clips & Pin Cushion or Magnetic Holder
Marking Tool
Pressing Tool
Seam Ripper

February 14, 2026 Quilting 101 – Beginners Quilting

Learn the basics of quilting while making this wallhanging.
Fabric Requirements for: “Pineapple Passion” (Quilting 101)
BACKGROUND: 1/4 yard (regular quarter – NOT Fat 1/4)
TOP LEAVES: Fat 1/8th or scraps – GREENS
PINEAPPLE: One Fat 1/4 or SCRAPS. YELLOW-MAIZE-Lt.GOLD (You will cut in class and TRADE for a variety)

Uses 5” charm squares.
Needs 64 charm squares plus desired border.

Select 1/4 yard each of 5 fabrics – Fat quarters or 9′ x width of fabric
Cut the following strips:
From each fat quarter, cut 2 – 3″ strips and 2 – 5″ strips
From each width of fabric quarter yard, cut 1 – 3″ strip and 1 – 5 ” strip
June 13, 2026 Head Turning Hexies

This project involves English paper piecing, no machine needed!
Please bring:
~Hand sewing needle, applique/straw/milliner needles work well
~A thimble if you use one
~Fabric scissors and a small Ott light if you like
~Just a couple of binding clips (I’ll have some)
~Thin thread that matches your fabric, or use a neutral color thread
~I will supply 1” paper hexagons
~It is helpful to have a small design board
~Bring something to drink, lunch, and your smile!
For a project like my red one, you will need 6 coordinating fabrics
Cut six 2 ¾ inch squares from fabrics 1-5 ( 30 squares )
Cut seven 2 ¾ -inch squares from fabric 6
For a scrappy project, you will cut 2 ¾-inch squares from a variety of fabrics. This project uses 37 hexagons
Keep in mind that you can fussy cut, which adds interest
Looking forward to our day together!
